I do not think that just because we are police
officers (who our prosecutors would have everyone believe that WE are EXPERTS in
EVERYTHING - AND that OUR OPINIONS are valuable and admissible in Court as
professional opinions), we should all not "walk the walk" if we "talk the talk":
there is no reason that we should shy away from expressing those opinions
whenever and whenever we can - if it is appropriate.
In this instance - it came to me that I had
already been 'certified' by local Juvenile Court as a "Firearms Expert"; in a
similar fashion I had also been certified by local courts as a "traffic expert".
So when asked on the form to be filled out by the
COPS Card - why not express those "expert opinions" - since they can easily be
backed-up by FACTS - available anywhere. After all, even HCI and the CDC don't
deny that motor vehicle "accidents" (I call them collisions) are the #1 leading
cause of death to young Americans - why not tell them that on my COPS Card?
