Sad Commentary

It is a sad commentary that the average citizen puts all Police officers in the same category with certain Federal Law enforcement agencies that actively infringe on the freedoms of others. I am a career police officer and I support the right of law abiding citizens to keep and bear arms as provided for by the Constitution of this Great nation of ours.

I have found that a large majority of police officers feel as I do. Seldom if ever will you see a large group of working police officers speak out against the second amendment. You will see some politically appointed police administrators get on the anti-gun bandwagon. Do they really feel that way or is it just political posturing?

Why do most police officers that I have met feel as I do? It is simple. They know we need crime control NOT gun control. They see the same offenders committing the same crimes time and time again. Some of the same citizens are being victims time and time again. They know that they cannot be everywhere all the time. They know a citizens best defense against violent crime is the ability do defend themselves and their families. Gun control takes this ability away. Police officers know this.

It is a fact...a criminal is more afraid of the armed citizen than the police. If you make owning a gun a crime...then only criminals will have guns.
