Obviously these folks no nothing about American history or our Armed Forces. I am a ten year Army veteran. Make no mistake about it. The National Guard is a part of the Army. These "State Forces" can be called up to serve as Federal forces when the Federal Government sees fit to use them as such. They have fought with distinction for our country. What they are NOT is the type of militia that Madison and his contemporary s had in mind. Madison was afraid of the threat posed to the liberty and freedom of the people when only the government was armed. He cites the "several kingdoms of Europe" (in his time) that were held in despotism due in part that the Governments of these kingdoms would not allow the people to be armed. (Federalist papers #46,Jan.29,1788) Mr. Madison, the Author of the second amendment, states clearly that his intention was for the PEOPLE and ALL the people to be armed. He reasoned that no country could field an army big enough to defeat an armed populace. Madison feared a large central government. He feared the power it would hold over the people. He wanted the people to retain the means to defend their liberties.

I am sure that Mr. Madison would be sick at the treatment of his words. Let's never forget what the first ten Amendments to the United States Constitution are called. The Bill of RIGHTS. NOT the bill of privileges that can be removed or restricted by congress whenever they need a scapegoat for problems they are to weak to face.
