My favorite catalog in the whole wide world is Sportsman's Guide. Good old Gary O is a man with both a sense of humor as well as a great peddler of sportsmans' "STUFF!"

And Lord, Lord, I love "stuff" more than I love anything else. I once wrote to Gary to tell him how much I enjoyed just reading his catalog. I told him that I ordered stuff I wanted. He wrote back telling me that everything he sells is not what I "want" but rather, what I "need!" I agreed.

So today I called the 800 number and ordered a BB gun. A plinking pistol. I also ordered a bunch of CO2 cartridges, BB's and a box of pointed .177 cal pellets. The later was to go with the other CO2 pistol I was ordering on the same call.

The man told me, "Sorry, but we cannot ship CO2 pistols to NYS."

Woof?

He informed me that I could not order the item even if I gave him another shipping address. Meaning I could not have it shipped to my buddy in New Jersey, who could deliver it to me here in NYS. That any item I ordered was restricted to my ZIP code. And my ZIP code precluded having CO2 stuff shipped to it.

Woof?

I then asked, "Well, OK ... uh, suppose I give you my FFL dealer. Then could you ship it to him who could then ship it to me?"

"NO"

WOOF??!!

It seems that I could, however, order that boot knife I wanted. Now, tell me somebody. How is it that I can order a knife with which to slit  throats with imunity, I can order a pistol through a licensed Federal Firearms Dealer.

But I cannot order a BB pistol or a .177 cal CO2 Pistol. Under ANY circumstances.

Lord. Please let this old man see one day, just one lousy day, of common sense before I croak.
